Communicating traffic safety and order for foreigners at Tan Son Nhat International Airport

The Road Traffic - Railway Traffic Police Department under the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Police has cooperated with Tan Son Nhat International Airport to communicate, disseminate and teach the laws on traffic safety for foreigners working, traveling, studying and living in HCMC through bilingual leaflets in Vietnamese and English languages.

In 2022, with the policy of "safe and flexible adaptation, effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic", associated with "ensuring social security and economic development", the situation of people's life in HCMC will be stabilized, the city’s economy and tourism will be gradually recovered and developed strongly, attracting businesses, foreigners and overseas Vietnamese to invest in business, working and sightseeing.

However, in the first 10 months of 2022, the situation of traffic accidents involving foreigners in the city developed complicatedly. There were 17 traffic accidents that killed 3 people, injured 8 people and damaged many vehicles.

To prevent and reduce traffic accidents, especially traffic accidents involving foreigners in HCMC, especially during holidays and Tet, the Road Traffic - Railway Traffic Police Department under the HCMC Police takes initiative in cooperating with Tan Son Nhat International Airport to communicate, disseminate and teach the law on traffic safety for foreigners who are working, traveling, studying and living in HCMC through Vietnamese and English bilingual leaflets.

The content of bilingual leaflets is the basic principles specified in the Road Traffic Law and other legal documents of Vietnam related to traffic safety and order, which is presented in writing, image and infographic to make it easy for foreigners to read and understand.

This information is printed and placed on information shelves and counters in the international terminal area, which is an easy-to-see place for passengers after completing the necessary procedures to exit the airport.

This is one of the solutions of the HCMC Police to help foreigners who come to the city to work, study and travel to have basic knowledge to strictly abide by the provisions of Vietnamese law when participating in traffic, thereby preventing and reducing traffic accidents in the city related to foreigners./.
