Czech Republic Independence Day marked in HCMC

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) hosted a ceremony on October 31 to celebrate the 106th anniversary of Independence Day of the Czech Republic (October 28, 1918 - October 28, 2024).

Nguyen Muoi, Chairman of the Vietnam-Czech Friendship Association (VCFO) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), highlighted the fruitful development of traditional friendship and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, saying that this good relationship continued to be strengthened over many decades.
The Vietnamese people always remember the valuable material and spiritual support by former Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, during the struggle for national liberation as well as national defence and construction of Vietnam, he said.
The Vietnamese community, recognised as the country’s 14th ethnic minority group, is deeply integrated into the local society, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Muoi highly appreciated cooperation and support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vietnam and the Honorary Consul of the country in HCM City in the activities of the HUFO and the VCFO in HCM City, saying that they serve as bridges promoting friendship between the people of HCM City and the European nation.
Ngo Hong Chuyen, the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in HCM City, said the European country always attaches importance to enhancing and developing cooperative relations with Vietnam, and considers the country as its most important partner in Southeast Asia and one of the priority partners for economic cooperation outside Europe.
The Czech Republic is one of Vietnam’s most important trading partners in Central and Eastern Europe, while Vietnam is the European country’s largest trading partner in ASEAN. The European nation now has 41 valid direct investment projects in the Southeast Asian nation, with a total registered capital of 92.39 million USD, ranking 49th among the 139 countries and territories investing in Vietnam./.
