The medical equipment supported by Germany to the Vietnamese Government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is worth about VND21 billion.
In addition, this support also aims to affirm the deep cooperative relationship between Germany and Vietnam on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Last August, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested German Chancellor Angela Merkel support Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, especially providing vaccines and medical equipment.
In reply to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Angela Merkel promised to provide Vietnam with vaccines, ventilators, and oxygen and heart rate monitors for Vietnam.
These medical machines arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on November 13 and were transferred to the Hospital for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
At the ceremony to receive medical equipment, Ambassador Hildner expressed his delight at this important support from Germany for Vietnam.
The Ambassador stated that the equipment will support the active medical treatment for severe patients and contribute to curing them. Germany will always stand by Vietnam and continue to support Vietnam to the best of its ability in the fight against the pandemic.
In September, Germany provided Vietnam with a total of 3.45 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to support Vietnam's vaccination campaign./.
