According to the plan, four interagency inspection teams will be deployed to oversee food safety for the designated festive period, running from December 15, 2024, to March 15, 2025.
The initiative aims to enhance monitoring and inspection of food safety in production, processing, trading, importation and consumption. The goal is to effectively prevent food poisoning incidents and minimize risks during the New Year, Lunar New Year and Spring Festival.
The plan also emphasizes improving the accountability of all levels of government in managing food safety. Measures will be implemented across all administrative levels, from city to local wards and communes. Authorities will assess compliance with food safety regulations among production facilities, businesses and importers serving the holiday season.
Key focus areas include raising public awareness about food safety, promoting knowledge on safe food handling, and encouraging the adoption of practices to prevent alcohol-related poisoning. Awareness campaigns will highlight proper food selection, storage, preparation and consumption during the festive period.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has directed inspection efforts toward high-risk food items commonly consumed during Tet and festivals, food processing villages, and businesses operating in markets and supermarkets. Inspections will be carried out at all administrative levels to identify, prevent and strictly address any violations of food safety regulations./.
