Ho Chi Minh City launches tree planting ceremony to mark Uncle Ho’s birthday

Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders on May 16 launched a tree planting ceremony in Binh Chanh District to mark the 131st birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan stressed that obeying President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, the city has always identified tree planting and afforestation as an important work, which is combined with boosting the city’s comprehensive development, for the benefit of not only today’s generation, but also the future’s. In 2020, the city planted 50 hectares of concentrated hectares, over 350,000 trees in rural and urban areas.

Hailing the efforts of departments, districts and people in tree and forest planting, he noted that the next important work is to care for the trees to make them develop.

He urged each cadre, officer, soldier and resident to plant and take care of at least one tree, to make a practical contribution to realizing the Prime Minister’s project on planting one billion trees in the 2021-2025 period.

On this occasion, 16 communes and towns in Binh Chanh District registered to plant 16,000 trees in 2021./.
