The program was implemented on March 21 on the occasion of the International Day of Forests and the establishment of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden (March 23, 1864 - March 23, 2023).

The purpose of the program is to preserve wild orchids on the ancient trees of the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, creating biodiversity and landscapes for visitors.

Accordingly, on this occasion, 2.5 tons of orchids including many types of orchids successfully bred by Yen Thach Hoc Co., Ltd in the forests of Hon Heo, Nam Cat Tien, Bu Gia Map, Mang Den and Buon Don were brought to the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Representative from the sponsoring unit, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Khiet, said that currently, deforestation is rampant, causing many orchid varieties to no longer have a place to grow and develop.

Apart from that, the demand for growing and selling orchids is increasing and widespread, some people even specialize in hunting for orchids, looking for high-value orchid roots, leaving some rare and precious forest orchids no longer present in the wild in Vietnam.

Therefore, the program "Bringing wild orchids back to nature" at Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden aims to preserve and nurture the remaining wild orchid varieties today; at the same time, helping people and visitors to the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden will have the opportunity to approach and admire natural orchids, especially the children; and raise awareness among people about protecting forest orchids and the natural environment.

It is expected that the program "Bringing wild orchids back to nature" will be implemented for two years, in which the Vietnam Association of Civil Engineering Environment, Yen Thach Hoc Co., Ltd. will support orchids and techniques for the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden./.
