Top leader hands over appointment decision to ambassador to Laos

Congratulating Tam, Vice Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, on the appointment, the top leader stressed that it manifests the Party and State’s confidence in the ambassador's capacity and qualifications.

General Secretary and State President To Lam highlighted the special and sincere relations between the two countries, which have played an important role in Vietnam’s security and development, and are a leading priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy, and described the ties as the precious asset of the two nations, which have been built, nurtured, and developed by generations of leaders and people of both nations.

He expressed his hope that Tam will promote the country’s diplomatic tradition, well apply the diplomacy school of the Ho Chi Minh era, and contribute to unceasingly consolidating, and nurturing the Vietnam – Laos relations across various areas, bringing substantive benefits to the Parties, States, and people of the two countries.

The leader asked the newly-appointed ambassador to keep improving his political mettle, and uphold the spirit of solidarity, example setting and discipline at the embassy as well as other Vietnamese representative offices in Laos. He also requested Tam to continue keeping close tabs on the situation at home and in the host nation to propose policies and strategies, making contributions to developing the bilateral relationship amidst more complicated developments in the region and the world.

General Secretary and State President To Lam underlined that Tam must promote his role to bridge and develop the special Vietnam – Laos relations in the fields of politics – diplomacy, economy – trade, culture and tourism, among others.

Tam, for his part, pledged to make all-out efforts to boost the bilateral ties in a deep and effective manner in various sectors, with the political relations being the key that shapes orientations for cooperation between the two nations.

The ambassador said he will work to bolster collaboration in defence – security and external affairs, while creating breakthroughs in economic cooperation, including enhancing connectivity among the Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian economies regarding institutions, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and tourism.

Tam added that he wishes to continue receiving directions from the Party chief and State President, as well as support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and competent ministries and sectors to fulfill his tasks, meeting the two Parties and States’ expectations of elevating the special relations to a new height./.
