Uncle Ho praises Thanh Hoa’s army and people

The front page of the People's Army Newspaper No. 2083 dated March 7, 1967, featured the article "President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter of compliment to the army and people of Thanh Hoa".
The letter of President Ho Chi Minh to the army and people of Thanh Hoa was published in the People's Army Newspaper on March 7, 1967. 

In a letter to people, soldiers and cadres of Thanh Hoa province, Uncle Ho wrote that on March 1, 1967, Thanh Hoa's army and people fought well and shot down the 1,700th and 1,701st aircraft of the American enemy. Earlier, on February 26, Thanh Hoa fired on an American warship. To that time, Thanh Hoa had shot down 192 American aircraft. That is a common victory for the people of the whole country, and the honor of the army and people of Thanh Hoa.

On behalf of the Party Central Committee and the Government, Uncle Ho praised the people, cadres and soldiers of Thanh Hoa province for their close solidarity to overcome all difficulties, fight bravely and winning victories gloriously.

In the letter, he also instructed the army and people of Thanh Hoa to raise vigilance, strive to emulate good production, fight well, further promote transport, do their best in people's air defense, and try to win more and more.

Currently, at the Museum of Thanh Hoa province, a number of letters from Uncle Ho to the army and people of Thanh Hoa are kept.

On November 30, 1948, on behalf of the Government, Uncle Ho praised the people of Thanh Hoa for repairing and protecting the dyke very well.

After the F8U plane was shot down in Thanh Hoa at 12:20 pm on October 10, 1965, on October 12, 1965, Uncle Ho promptly sent a letter to people, soldiers and officers in Thanh Hoa. In the letter, Uncle Ho expressed his pleasure to know that the province’s army and people had shot down 100 American planes. Thus, the three provinces of Quang Binh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa all shot down 100 American planes each.

On July 5, 1967, Uncle Ho sent a letter of compliment to the female militia platoon of Hau Loc district after the platoon shot down an AD6 aircraft of the American enemy at 15:00 on June 16. This was the first female militia unit to shoot down an American plane with an infantry gun.

Uncle Ho’s letters were a source of deep encouragement to the army and people of Thanh Hoa, becoming a source of motivation to join the whole country in bringing the Vietnamese revolution to the final victory./.
