New rice celebration of Xo Dang ethnic minority reinstated in Hanoi

The new rice celebration of the Xo Dang ethnic minority in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has been recreated at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi, in the framework of activities in October.

The most important ritual of the year for the Xo Dang ethnic minority group in the Central Highlands, takes place over two or three days during the tenth lunar month when rice is ripe.

Ritual to spray for the gods 
Depending on the customs of each village, the festival is organized in different scales and forms. When the rice starts to ripen, the head of the village announces good days to prepare for the festival. The celebration will take place in each family and then at the village community place.
