Vietnam officially launched its first overseas tourism office in London, the UK, on February 18th.

The launch was attended by more than 200 guests from travel companies, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK, the Vietnam-UK Network, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

The office, named The Visit Vietnam, is tasked with coordinating with British partners to promote the two countries’ tourism cooperation, he noted.

Vietnam has been assessed as one of the world’s fastest growing tourist destinations by many international tourism bodies like the UN World Tourism Organisation and the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association.

It has also been named on lists of the top tourist and cultural tourism destinations in Asia, the world’s best golf destinations, along with other rankings./.

Vietnamese city ensures security for 36th ASEAN Summit

The 36th ASEAN Summit is expected to be held in Da Nang city in early April. Together with efforts to fight Covid-19, the Vietnamese city is focusing on thoroughly preparing for the Vietnam ASEAN Chairmanship Year.

In a recent meeting with Ho Ky Minh, Deputy Chairman of the city People’s Committee, representatives from the preparation delegation said that sub-committees on security, health and ASEAN order, as well as the other national sub-committees, will work with Da Nang to carry out plans ensuring absolute security and safety for the Summit.

As the 36th ASEAN Summit is one of the most important events in the ASEAN Chairmanship Year which will be attended by ASEAN member countries’ leaders and guests, especially heads of state from the US, China, Russia and Japan, the highest requirements in security, safety, food, health and information issues will be requested.

Ahead of the Summit, Da Nang is also chosen to host the 26th Meeting of ASEAN Economic Minister Retreat and related meetings which will take place from March 8th-11th. Preparations are being made by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Da Nang city./.

Almost all Covid-19 patients detected in Vietnam recover

Fifteen of 16 Covid-19 patients detected in Vietnam have been confirmed to no longer carry the virus inside their bodies, which confirms the effectiveness of Vietnam’s treatment of the disease.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Head of the Medical Examination and Treatment under the Ministry of Health (MoH), said the treatment therapy has always been updated among localities to find the best one.

“We put forth specific strategies, from reception of patients, isolation of patients to use of medicine and most modern equipment,” he said. “We can say that we go ahead of warnings by the World Health Organization.”

No new patients have been reported in Vietnam since February 13th. Apart from patients discharged from hospital, the others are in stable health condition and going to be discharged from hospital.

According to the MoH, there are only 34 suspected cases remaining who are being isolated at health foundations. Meanwhile, 1,137 suspected cases have tested negative for the virus.

“The remaining patients’ health is in good condition and surely that there will not be any fatalities,” said Mr. Khue./.
