Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulates Vietnamese origin woman on being elected to district-level People's Council in Poland

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Head of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, on April 20 sent a congratulatory letter to Ms. Cao Hong Vinh, an overseas Vietnamese in Poland, who was elected to the Ochota District Council, Warsaw, Poland in local elections on April 7, 2024.

“Being elected to the Ochota District Council is not only your personal pride, but also represents a new development step for the Vietnamese community in Poland, affirming the community's role and position in the local society," wrote Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.

"I trust that, in your new position, you will continue to support the Vietnamese community in Poland to integrate and actively contribute to the host society, always towards the homeland, and to be a bridge contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship, friendship and solidarity between the people of Vietnam and Poland," the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs continued.

Ms. Cao Hong Vinh has just been elected to the People's Council of Ochota District in Warsaw, Poland, for the 2024-2029 term. Ms. Cao Hong Vinh became the first Vietnamese person elected to a Polish local government.

She was born in 1973 in Hanoi and has spent more than 30 years studying, living and working in Poland. She is not only an active cultural education activist in the locality, but also a typical overseas Vietnamese for many years.

She is the initiator of the "Vietnam Cultural Week" program at high schools in Poland over the past 10 years. Through these programs, Vietnamese culture is better presented to the Polish people through the lively introduction of folk songs, bamboo dances, palm-leaf conical hats and Vietnamese ao dai performances.

In addition, Ms. Cao Hong Vinh is also the President of the Truong Sa Club in Poland with many positive contributions to activities for Vietnam's sea and islands./.
