Deepening Vietnam - Russia relationship

During their visit to the Russian Federation, on May 20th, the delegation from Ho Chi Minh city led by Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Secretary of the city Party Committee, left Saint Petersburg for Moscow where they laid a wreath to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.

Introducing the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh said that the embassy is Vietnam’s largest diplomatic agency overseas, with over 50 staff members and representatives from eight ministries and five press agencies.

There are some 80,000 Vietnamese living or studying in Russia, including more than 1,000 CPV members.

Previous years reported good activities of diplomatic work in politics, economics and culture, while care for the Vietnamese community in Russia has been well carried out.

Talking with the embassy staff, Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed that the Vietnam - Russia relationship is precious relationship which needs reinforcing. “To deepen the relationship, we must have a roadmap in overcoming obstacles in languages, geographic gap and lack of information,” he said.

According to Mr. Nhan, the number of USD1.1 billion in Russia’s investment in Vietnam does not match its potential. Meanwhile, Vietnam is investing over USD2 billion in Russia. “Therefore, we need to seek solutions to attract greater investment from this great country./.
