He appreciated the economic achievements that Germany had gained, especially in the hi-tech industry, automobile manufacturing and energy. Although trade turnover between the two sides reached USD2 billion in 2016, the cooperation mainly focused on high technology, which is among prioritized industries in Vietnam.

It pledges to create favourable conditions and an attractive investment environment for foreign investors, including German businesses.

Showing pleasure with the cooperation results between Ho Chi Minh city and Germany, Ms Iris Gleicke said that the German Government and businesses always hope to expand economic cooperation with Vietnam. German businesses appreciated the dynamic development of the city.

According to Ms Iris Gleicke, Germany used to face problems in the development of infrastructure, traffic and energy. She confirmed that German businesses would actively support Ho Chi Minh city through research and training cooperation, as well as trade and investment promotion activities and transfer of technology.

The German side will promptly establish representative agencies for its businesses in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh city, for strict and regular cooperation, bringing practical benefit for both sides./.
