Its strategy should help all Korean large cities’ residents find it easy to travel to Vietnamese key destinations.

Accordingly, it will open a 4.5 hour flight from Korean’s Deagu city to Da Nang city on December 22nd, increasing the number of fixed routes to 7, the number of flights to Da Nang to 7 per week, and the total number of flights to 63 per week.

Yang Sung-jin, JeJu Airline PR Director, said that the airline had operated a route from Incheon to Hanoi in 2014. Since then, 6 routes to Vietnam’s 4 cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Nha Trang and Da Nang, have been developed.

“Our movement is due to the fact that more and more Korean people need to go to Vietnam for tourism or work over the past recent years,” he said. “As of this August, the number of Koreans to Da Nang city was 36,000, an increase of five times compared to 2017.”

Statistics from the Korea Tourism Organization showed that in 2016, nearly 1.6 million Koreans came to Vietnam. The figure increased to over 2.4 million in 2017 and over 2.5 million in the first 9 months of this year. Vietnam has become the 3rd country that Korean tourists want to come to, after Japan and China.

Meanwhile, according to the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the two-way trade turnover was reported at USD45 billion in 2016 and USD63.9 billion in 2017; and is expected to hit USD100 billion by 2020./.
