Five tons of rice presented to poor overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Battambang, Cambodia, and the Executive Committee of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Siem Reap province distributed five tons of rice to poor overseas Vietnamese in Siem Reap city, Kampong Khleng fishing village and Mac La fishing village on the Tonle Sap Lake on December 3rd and 4th.

This is the gift of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, presented to overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of his trip to Cambodia to attend the 9th Summit of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area, held on November 21st - 23rd in Siem Riep city.

Prime Minister Phuc had meetings with representatives of overseas Vietnamese living in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on November 23rd and presented five tons of rice for poor overseas Vietnamese there.

The Overseas Vietnamese community in Siem Reap has more than 1,600 households with 6,500 people. Their lives are very difficult, with household incomes mainly based on fishing the Tonle Sap Lake, small business and service.

They were very excited and moved when receiving the gift from the Prime Minister.

They also expressed their deep gratitude to the Party and State of Vietnam, and the Prime Minister for paying more attention and supporting them over the past time both physically and mentally, to help them overcome difficulties in order to stabilize their lives./.
