Talkshow on sexual abuse at school

On June 28th, a talkshow on sexual abuse at school was held in Hanoi by the Vietnam Women Newspaper in coordination with the Center for Studies and Applied Sciences in Gender – Family – Women and Adolescents (CSAGA) and CARE Vietnam.

In the recent National Assembly sessions, child sexual abuse is one of many concerned topics. In particular, at the 7th session of the 14th National Assembly, delegates agreed to select "the implementation of policies and laws on prevention child abuse” the theme for supreme supervision in 2020.

The school is said to be a safe place for children. However, in recent time, not only school violence between teachers and students but also sexual abuse happen at school.

The talkshow drew the participant of Nguyen Van Anh, expert in sex, CSAGA director; lawyer Nguyen Van Tu, director of Fanci Limited Law Company; Master of Psychology Dinh Doan, former headmaster of Xa Dan secondary school; journalist Quy Hien from the Youth Newspaper.

It aimed to find solutions from social activist, lawyer, journalist and school representative in the prevention and face with sexual abuse at school; improve public awareness of the prevention of sexual abuse at school, especially contributing to erasing the psychology of blaming victims./.
