Vietnam ranks third at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018

With one gold, four silvers and two bronzes, Vietnam ranked third among 31 countries and territories at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2018.

On May 21st, the Department of Quality Management under the Ministry of Education and Training received Vietnam’s official Olympiad results from the Russian Federation.

Vietnam had 15 contestants and joined the Olympiad online hosted by Vietnam National University, VNU-Hanoi, on May 13th.

Pham Duc Thang, from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, VNU-Hanoi, won the gold medal.

The silver medals went to Hoang Xuan Nhat, from the High School for the Gifted under the Vietnam National University, VNU-Ho Chi Minh city;  Nguyen Khanh, from the High School for the Gifted Vietnam National University, VNU-Hanoi; Trinh Huu Gia Phuc, from the Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa province; and Nguyen Minh Tung from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, VNU-Hanoi.

Nguyen Hoang Hai Minh, from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, VNU-Hanoi, and Duong Quoc Hung from the Thang Long School for the Gifted in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, won bronze medals.

Among 586 contestants in the Interest-based Olympiad, a total of 87 won medals./.
