Vietnam wins third prize at international science contest in US

Student Vu Hoang Long from 12A2, Lao Cai high school No.1, Lao Cai city, won third prize at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) 2019 for his project “Feeding robot using image processing technology for Parkinson patients”.

This is the first time Lao Cai province has the project to attend the contest and win the prize. Reportedly, Long's project won the third prize and was also the only winning project of Vietnamese student delegation at fair in the US from May 12th to 17th.

The project was completed by student Long after nearly six-month research under the support and consultancy of teachers and several leading experts in the field of science from universities, including Hanoi University of Industry, Vietnam National University -VNU Hanoi, Hanoi National University of Education.

It has outstanding advantages such as interdisciplinary knowledge at school (Mathematics, Physics, Technology, Informatics, Chemistry, Biology), of which over 30% of advanced knowledge under tertiary education has been applied creatively.

In particular, it uses image recognizing and processing technology to control food-choosing robots and feed food to Parkinson patients automatically./.
