Da Nang city mobilizes over VND2.3 billion to help AO victims

Over VND2.3 billion was raised to support victims of Agent Orange in the central city of Da Nang during a program entitled “Spring for Children” held on January 5th by the city Association of Victims of Agent Orange.

Addressing the program, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung confirmed that the city Party Committee and authority have always created favourable conditions for the city Association of Victims of Agent Orange to operate effectively, become a typical organization in caring for and protecting the legitimate interests of AO victims.

Besides the association, a wide range of organizations and individuals have regularly supported the victims, to help them ease their pain and overcome hardships.

Da Nang city People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dung called on agencies, individuals and sponsors to make more contributions to assist the lives of AO victims.

There are currently over 5,000 AO victims in the city, including nearly 1,400 children with disabilities caused by the toxic chemical.

From the donated amount of money, the city Association of Victims of Agent Orange has cared for and fostered hundreds of AO child victims; and presented thousands of presents to AO victims’ families.

During the program, the organizing committee gave 20 presents worth VND700,000 each to AO victims, while the city Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front donated VND200 million and agencies, organizations and individuals donated over VND2.1 billion to assist AO victims./.
