Accordingly, the International Media Centre (IMC) is directed to become an international standard convention centre. Being upgraded from the Fair and Exhibition Centre using over VND178 billion, the IMC became the working place for nearly 3,000 domestic and foreign journalists during the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week, providing professional and modern services for media activities, according to Le Ngoc Thanh, Director of the Da Nang Markets and Fair Exhibition Management Company.
Mr. Thanh added that at first, the IMC will be used to organized different fairs, one showing Vietnamese goods and agricultural products to be held this December, a Spring Fair to be held in January 2018, the 2018 ASEAN International Fair, and the others. “Taking advantage of modern international standard facilities, the company is submitting a plan to the city Department of Industry and Trade on making it an international standard convention, exhibition and fair centre,” said Mr. Thanh.
In addition, the Tien Son Sports Palace was upgraded with over VND84 billion for the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week and the place for Gala Dinner CEO SUMMIT 2017, which attracted nearly 2,000 leaders from domestic and international large businesses and groups on November 9th, leaving good impression on CEOs.
Ngo Truong Tho, Director of the Tien Son Sports Palace, said that the palace’s image will be promoted to attract cultural, sports and tourism events.
A series of other projects will also be exploited. The APEC Park where statues from 21 APEC member economies are placed will become a typical tourism site in Da Nang city; the Vinmec International General Hospital, an important healthcare foundation during the APEC Week, will become the most modern healthcare destination in Da Nang city, capable of giving medical check-ups and treatment to thousands of patients per day; Ariyana Convention Centre, the country’s largest, will become an attractive tourism service provider in Da Nang and central region of Vietnam; and the international terminal at the Da Nang International Airport can welcome 6 million passengers per year./.
