The Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee on February 22nd announced that it is now free of disease caused by Zika virus in Vinh Thanh commune, Nhon Trach district.

Although the disease has been controlled, there remains a high risk of recurrence, according to the provincial People’s Committee. Therefore, strict inspection will still continue in the province.
Earlier, in early January, a number of Zika virus infections were reported in Dong Nai province, forcing the province to fight the disease at the communal level.
After the declaration, authorized agencies have carried out preventive measures to prevent a spread of the disease. Accordingly, the infected cases’ health was strictly monitored and they were encouraged not to leave residential areas.
Dong Nai province has accelerated the dissemination of information on the disease among people so that they can master preventive measures, encouraged residents to kill larva and mosquitoes, and sprayed chemicals to sanitise the environment./.
