The activity to collect and destroy plant protection waste is part of the program “Together with farmers in protecting the environment” which has been carried out across 22 southern provinces and cities since 2012.

As of 2017, over 35,845 kilograms of used plant protection packages were collected by farmers before being destroyed.

On March 26th alone, program participants in Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc collected 792 kilograms of plant protection waste, which was then transported to Ho Chi Minh city for treatment.

According to Bui Chi Duc, Head of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Crop Production and Plant Protection Department, since the program’s implementation in the province in 2013, farmers collected over 1,940 kilograms of plant protection waste, contributing to increasing farmers’ awareness about protecting the environment during their agricultural production.

“This is a pioneering program in supporting the destruction of plant protection waste, creating a pervading effect on the people and agencies and unions - the important factors in environmental protection,” stressed Mr. Duc./.
