The Vietnam Fatherland Front has decided to earmark VND1.3 billion from the central rescue fund to assist families in the 9 mountainous provinces who were affected by recent torrential rain and floods.

Under the decision, the 4 localities of Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Son La will receive VND200 million each, while the 5 localities of Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Bac Kan and Hoa Binh will be provided with VND100 million each.
The assisted money will be used to support families that reported dead, missing or injured members or those whose houses were destroyed. Accordingly, each victim will be assisted with VND5 million, while each seriously injured person will be assisted with VND3 million.
Over the past days, torrential rain fell across large areas of northern mountainous localities, causing floods, landslides, house collapses and traffic interruption, claiming lives and damaging local residents’ properties, seriously affecting people’s life and production./.
