As part of efforts to ease Hanoi’s traffic congestion, the Belt Road 1 has become the most expensive one in the country so far, being built at a cost of VND3.5 billion (USD152,000) per meter.
A perspective of the project
Accordingly, the 50m-wide project will use nearly 160,000 square meters of land, including 83,000 square meters of residential land, 16,000 square meters of institutional land, and nearly 54,000 square meters of space on existing roads.
It has two flyovers: one crossing the Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc and Giang Vo - Lang Ha crossroads, and the other crossing the Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc and Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection.
Between 2017-2020 period, construction will include parking lots, green spaces, technical infrastructure, landscapes, and sidewalks (covering about 6,083 square meters).
Some of VND6.4 trillion (USD284.4 million) will be spent for clearance and resettlement for about 2,328 households, including 808 households in Dong Da district and 1,520 households in Ba Dinh district.
This is over three times higher than the Kim Lien - O Cho Dua section (more than VND1.1 billion per meter) and over twice than the O Cho Dua-Hoang Cau section (VND1.4 billion per meter), also belong to this project.
It runs through Cau Giay, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung and Dong Da districts from the Nhat Tan bridge through Nguyen Khoai, Tran Khat Chan, Dai Co Viet, Xa Dan, La Thanh, Buoi and Lac Long Quan roads, including O Dong Mac and O Cau Den flyovers, and Kim Lien underpass.
So far, the expansion of the Belt Road 1 on Nguyen Khoai, Tran Khat Chan, Dai Co Viet, Xa Dan, O Cho Dua streets has been completed./.
