Departments and localities were also urged to carry out the project on increasing communities’ awareness and community-based management of risks in 2017; propose guidelines in repairing natural disaster prevention constructions; increase the capacity in forecasting rain, flooding and bad weather conditions; and send messages to residents about predicted bad weather.

The city will also increase the application of advanced science and technology in preventing natural disasters; recheck devices and equipment serving rescue work; propose plans to support fishermen in linking the communication system and fishing vessel location; and check agricultural production by encouraging farmers to change plantation and breeding structures that suit water supplies in each region.

The city Department of Transport has been asked to remove decayed trees before stormy season; accelerate the progress of land erosion prevention projects; and increase inspection of trade activities at water banks, as well as transport vehicles at waterways.

In addition, the Southern hub city will manage, repair and effectively operate the water sewerage system to deal with any flooding areas in the city, speed up the progress of projects on flooding prevention, and prevent flooding using irrigation construction along Sai Gon river in the second quarter of 2017./.
