Localities mark World Environment Day

As part of World Environment Day (June 5th), the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment has asked departments and localities to increase inspections over projects which risk causing environmental pollution.

It has also requested relevant agencies to check on investment and development projects, and mobilize resources to develop waste treatment constructions in urban and rural areas.

A movement encouraging the whole people to participate in protecting the environment and adapting to climate change, and to plant 1 million trees in the city, will be launched and carried out through July 31st.

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) has worked with Quang Ninh province to organize a workshop marking the International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22nd), in which delegates discussed how to develop tourism in combination with preserving biological diversity in Quang Ninh province; promote the values of biological diversity in sustainable development in Ha Long bay; and work out solutions preserving biological diversity and sustainable development.

MONRE has granted the certificate recognizing Bai Tu Long National Park as ASEAN Heritage Garden to mark the event./.
