Nearly VND900 billion mobilized to support COVID-19 fight

(CPV) - Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) President Tran Thanh Man has said that, three weeks after launching the drive to mobilise capital for the COVID-19 fight, over VND770 billion has been collected in cash and goods, and VND129 billion collected from messages to the national humanitarian portal.

He announced the figures during a ceremony to allocate VND150 billion in the first phase to the Ministry of Health, for buying medical equipment and materials for fighting the disease. 

During the ceremony, VFF President Tran Thanh Man said that although Vietnam’s fight against COVID-19 is appreciated by the world, the fight could still be long and with many difficulties remaining. “I hope that medical professionals will continue to overcome difficulties to make the fight a success,” he added. 

Expressing his thanks to the VFF, Standing Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long confirmed that mobilizing the whole people has brought positive results in the prevention. He pledged that the MoH will use the capital wisely and transparently. 

On the same day, VFF President Tran Thanh Man received VND7 billion from Samsung Vietnam Company.

Appreciating the efforts of Samsung Vietnam Company in joining hands with the country in fighting COVID-19, Mr Man said he hoped that the company would soon overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic, and have specific strategies to stabilize production and business in order to maintain stable work for its more than 130,000 employees in Vietnam.

In particular, it is necessary to continue taking measures to prevent and control the pandemic in accordance with the regulations of the MoH, so that no employees in the factory will be positive for COVID-19./.
