Over 160,000 women provided with production loans

In the first half of this year, the Hanoi Women’s Unions at all levels provided loans worth nearly VND5 trillion to over 160,000 members to help them expand production, according to the city Women’s Union Executive Committee during a meeting held on July 2nd to review the work over the past 6 months.

According to the union, in realization of models obeying Uncle Ho’s teachings, the union’s members presented nearly 21 tons of rice and over VND684 million to nearly 2,300 disadvantaged women and children, while 50 union branches committed to organize weddings and funerals economically.

Additionally, the union gave employment consultancy and introduction to nearly 7,300 labourers; organized 85 vocational training courses for over 6,300 labourers; 37 household work courses to nearly 1,800 members’ children; developed 122 community environmental friendly locations; expanded rice straw treatment models for planting mushrooms and potatoes; encouraged cadres and members to dredge over 2,500 metres of canals; and contributed nearly 3,000 working days, nearly VND4 billion and nearly 7,000 square metres of land to build rural roads and constructions.

Emulation campaigns and studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style will continue to be key tasks of the union in the second half. Meanwhile, it will increase the quality of models in assisting women in boosting economic development and escaping poverty./.
