Quang Ngai strives to become modern industrialised province

The Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee has issued a conclusion on increasing industrial development in the 2016-2020 period. Accordingly, a wide range of solutions were put forth, in order to make the province a modern industrialised locality.

According to the conclusion, types of industries and services that will receive encouragement for development include oil refinery, petrochemistry, and products made from oil; large-scale industries in connection with Dung Quat deep-water seaport; industries of high technology and clean industries; food industries; garment-textile and footwear industry; the processing of agricultural, forestry and fisheries products; maritime logistics services; and supporting industries.

The conclusion puts forth targets to increase industrial value by 3-4% annually, with industry accounting for 56-57% of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and the industrial sector attracting 32% of the province’s labourers.

The province will also strive to attract USD2.5-3.5 billion to the Dung Quat industrial zone, some VND1.6 trillion to industrial zones, and VND550 billion to industrial clusters.

To realise the targets, the province plans to create a favourable business and investment environment to attract greater amount of investment by further accelerating administrative reform, supporting investors proceeding with projects, issuing measures to better site clearance, and harmonising the interest between land users, investors and State.

It considers increasing social involvement and using State capital wisely efficient measures in renewing strongly investment promotion activities and renewing investment in the infrastructure for economic and industrial zones.

In addition, priority will be given to train high quality human resources to serve industrial development, increasing State management over industrial production and environmental protection, and ensuring adequate living conditions as well as social welfare interest for labourers.

Over the past years, strong development has been reported in the province’s industrial sector, making great contribution to economic growth. In the 2011-2015 period, the industrial value increased by 6% per year, with the industrial proportion in GRDP structure increasing from 53.03% to 57%./.
