Singapore - Vietnam friendship charity run 2018

(CPV) - The Singapore Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association on January 27th co-organized the Singapore - Vietnam friendship charity run at the Ly Thai To park at Hoan Kiem lake.

Luring more than 1,000 guests including senior Government officials, Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, corporate sponsors and other invited Singapore and Vietnamese guests, the event is part of activities to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Singapore - Vietnam relations (August 1st).

Ms Dao Hong Lan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs spoke highly the significance of the Charity Run and its practical contribution to the consolidation of mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Singapore and Vietnam.

Some VND1.8 billion was raised in donations for the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, the unique foundation established under the Law of Protection and Care for Children in 1992 and Governed by the Ministry of Labor, War-Invalid and Social Affairs. These proceeds will go towards the building of school facilities at Ban La school in Northern Tuyen Quang province.

Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam Catherine Wong highlighted the growing friendship and strong ties between the two nations, hoping that the close relationship will continue to strengthen in the years to come.

She shared that the charity run was the first event organised by the Singapore Embassy (together with the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association) to strengthen the already strong bonds of friendship between the peoples of Singapore and Vietnam, and expressed her appreciation to the Vietnamese and Singapore companies that have contributed to the success of the event./.
