Thua Thien - Hue province honours Vietnamese heroic mothers

Thua Thien - Hue province awarded the title of Vietnamese heroic mother to mother Truong Thi Kha, and awarded the title posthumously to 182 others during a ceremony held on March 28th, bringing the total number of mothers receiving the noble title to 2,125.

The ceremony also marked the presenting of the third-class Independence Order to 21 families whose members had sacrificed themselves for national liberation, construction and protection.

Meanwhile, nine outstanding collectives and individuals who gained excellent achievements in different areas were presented with second and third-class Orders.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Thua Thien - Hue provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao expressed his deep gratitude towards Vietnamese heroic mothers, the heroes, martyrs and families for devoting their blood to the great revolutionary process of the nation.

According to Chairman Cao, over the past years, the province has continuously increased the payment of gratitude movements. Activities have been held to help revolutionary contributors’ families during the lunar New Year festival, the Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs (July 27th) and other major festivals. Cadres and people have donated money and working days to repair and build houses and look after living Vietnamese heroic mothers and lonely martyrs’ relatives, grant savings books, address issues left from the war, and repatriate martyrs’ remains to local cemeteries.

He also urged Party organizations, authorities, agencies, and political and social organizations to continue to care for beneficiaries’ families./.
