Attending the 73rd World Health Assembly which was held in the form of video conference on May 18th-19th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the international community should continue upholding the strong will and power of each nation and the strong international solidarity and cooperation to overcome the challenge and build a better future for each country and all citizens.

With the motto “Fighting COVID-19 like fighting an enemy”, Vietnam has mobilized the participation of authorities at all levels, the national health system, scientists and the involvement of the military forces to both control source of infections, tracing contacts of known cases, testing and treating. The Government accepted the sacrifice of short-term economic interests to protect the health and safety of the people. The Government’s preventive measures are supported by the public.

Having effectively controlled the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam has entered a "new normal" state, focusing on boosting the economic recovery and development, and preventing the pandemic.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, although no community infections have been reported for over the past 1 month, there remains risks of infections. Meanwhile, the pandemic is forecast to undergo complicated and unpredictable development in many countries in the region and around the world, increasing the risk of its entering Vietnam in the near future, especially as Vietnamese authorised agencies abroad and airlines will continue to conduct flights to bring citizens back to the country.

Vietnam has maintained the prevention strategy by completely detecting, isolating, and fighting the pandemic in detected areas. Additionally, all citizens who enter the country are isolated and tested and undergo medical examination after returning home from isolated areas./.
