VND1.5 billion for urgent rescue work after typhoon

The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) has decided to give initial and urgent rescue in cash and goods worth over VND1.5 billion to residents affected by Typhoon Doksuri, in order to help them stabilize their lives and production.

Accordingly, for the assistance in the 6 provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue, each family reporting a fatality during the typhoon will be assisted with VND3 million. The same assistance will also be provided for each of 240 families whose houses were completely collapsed and VND1 million will be allocated to each of 650 families whose houses were seriously damaged. In addition, the VRC has distributed 250 sets of equipment for repairing houses of families in need.

On September 17th, the VRC Central Committee issued an appeal calling on organizations and individuals to donate and assist affected people until the end of October.

Typhoon Doksuri, one of the strongest ones over the past 10 years has caused serious losses in central localities, especially in Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces, directly affecting the lives of tens of thousands of families, and inflicting losses worth thousands of billions of VND.

Since September 15th, the VRC has sent delegations to Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces to assist with rescue work./.
