French mansion in HCMC opens to visitors

The French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city has opened the French mansion at No.27, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, Ben Nghe precinct, District 1 to welcome visitors.

In his presence at the event, French Consul General Vincent Floreani introduced the history of the mansion, as well as antiques representing the decorative art and spirit of Vietnam in this building, like the famous lacquer painting “Procession in the Village” (1939) by painter Nguyen Gia Tri.

Covering over 1.5 ha, the mansion also has a garden of many ancient trees with a rich ecosystem and many rare birds.

The move is the idea launched by the French Ministry of Culture with the name of the festival for historical heritages.

Under the framework of the event, visitors have chances to explore buildings that are not opened for sightseeing but used for purposes of administration, diplomacy and economics./.
