Museums opens for visitors in 2017

Among destinations attracting a number of tourists are museums which hold the quintessence of culture. The following museums opening for tourists in 2017 promise to be interesting destinations for those who love art when travelling abroad.

1. Louvre museum (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

The Louvre is the world’s largest museum. Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 72,735 square metres.

Construction of Louvre Abu Dhabi was awarded to an Arabtec-led joint venture with Construction San Jose SA and Oger Abu Dhabi LLC in 2013. Designed by prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, Louvre Abu Dhabi’s dome is supposed to offer museum visitors an enchanting "rain of light" effect.

The Louvre is open daily. 

2. Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art (South Africa)

The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Modern Art Africa, short MOCAA, is currently being constructed in Cape Town. On an inspiring tour during Cape Town Creative Week, the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the new 'Museum of Contemporary Art Africa', Mark Coetzee, shared his insights about this mammoth project which is certain to transform Cape Town's V&A Waterfront in the near future.

The construction of this new museum is a joint project by visionary Jochen Zeitz and the V&A Waterfront, and is supposed to attract more than 500,000 visitors annually to this new entertainment precinct at the V&A Waterfront.

3. Remai Modern Museum (Saskatchewa, Canada)

Remai Modern is a public art museum set to open in 2017 in Saskatoon, Canada. 11,582-square-metre museum, is located at River Landing, on the west bank of the South Saskatchewan river.

The project is supported by the City of Saskatoon, the Government of Saskatchewan, and the Government of Canada. The design, by Canadian architectural firm KPMB (Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects) and Smith Carter Architects and Engineers, won the 2011 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence.

The art gallery is expected to open in 2017.

4 Yves Saint Laurent Museum (Paris)

The foundation dedicated to conserving the work of legendary French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent has revealed two new museums dedicated to his life and career will open in France and Morocco in 2017.

The Fondation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent will showcase part of its vast collection of accessories, haute couture garments, sketches, collection boards, photographs and objects collected by Laurent between 1962 and 2002./.
