At the three-day visit, President Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un are expected to hold talks on a declaration to formally end the Korean War, more than six decades after fighting was halted by an armistice.

It was just over three months ago that United States President Donald Trump historically met face-to-face with DPRK leader Kim Jong-un at the Capella Hotel in Singapore on June 12th.

At the historic summit, the two leaders signed a joint statement agreeing to new peaceful relations and reaffirmation of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Mr. Moon is only the third RoK leader to visit DPRK's capital for a meeting between the two countries since the end of the Second World War.

It is the third time the two leaders have met this year, having previously held talks in the Truce Village of Panmunjom.

President Moon Jae-in said, ahead of his trip, that he would push for "irreversible, permanent peace" and for better dialogue between Pyongyang and Washington during "heart-to-heart" talks with Mr. Kim.

The DPRK’s Central News Agency said the Summit "will offer an important opportunity in further accelerating the development of inter-Korean relations that is making a new history"./.
