US, Indonesia tighten counterterrorism cooperation

The US and Indonesia on September 14th inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strengthening counterterrorism cooperation.

According to a press release by the US Department of State, US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Nathan A. Sales and Chief of the Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency Suhardi Alius signed the MoU in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Under the document, the two countries will enhance collaboration in the fight against terrorism by improving the exchange of information and best practices and by building capacity through cooperative training and education.

Indonesia was the last leg of Sales’ tour of Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, to discuss the fight against global terrorism and intensify cooperation in addressing the challenge./.
