The trilateral talks, the third of their kind, kicked off at 10h00 local time at the Freedom House in the border village of Panmunjom.

The delegations were led by RoK Army Colonel Cho Yong-geun, DPRK Army Colonel Om Chang-nam and the U.S. Army Colonel Burke Hamilton.

The talks were on the disarmament of the JSA inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

Earlier, during the second consultation, the two Koreas and the UN Command agreed to pull firearms and guard posts out of the JSA by October 25th, and the three sides carried out joint verification work to ensure that the JSA is completely disarmed on October 26th - 27th.

For sentry duty, 35 unarmed soldiers would be stationed each by RoK and the DPRK in the JSA.

Once the disarmament is completed, civilians of the two Koreas and foreign tourists will be allowed to cross the military demarcation line from 09h00 to 17h00.

The two Koreas have carried out joint work to remove mines and explosives in the JSA since October 1st.

In accordance with the inter-Korean military agreement, the three sides have removed guard posts and firearms from the JSA, hoping to reduce tensions and prevent accidental clashes./.
