The Cuban delegation was headed by Director General for US Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vida Ferreiro, while the US delegation was led by Counsellor to the Secretary of State, Kristie Kenney.

The Bilateral Commission was created in August, 2015, as a mechanism to build up the ties between the two countries following the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations.

The results of the development of ties between the two neighboring nations in the last 17 months can be seen in the political and consular fields, particularly in the restoration of relations at the diplomatic level and the opening of the U.S. embassy on July 20th, 2015, as well as the American’s visit to Cuba in March.

The next meeting of the Cuba-US Bilateral Commission to review progress in restoration of ties between the two countries will take place in September in Washington, DC, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Earlier, the two nations held the first Bilateral Commission Meeting in Havana on September 11th, 2015 and the second Meeting in Washington, DC on November 10th, 2015./.
