At the meeting, President Donald Trump expressed his expectations to work together closely with the RoK’s President to resolve the Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s nuclear issue.

Trump also said he will not pursue talks with the DPRK for talks’ sake, but added he is willing to make peace through engagement with the DPRK if conditions are right.

Special envoy Hong Seok-hyun held the meeting with Trump at the White House for 10 minutes, and handed him a letter from President Moon Jae-in.

The meeting was also attended by US Vice President Mike Pence, and Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner.

It was the first time Trump has met with a RoK official since taking office./.
