Mr. Moon, making his first trip to the United States since becoming his country's president in May, joined Mr. Trump and his wife, Melania, for dinner in the White House State Dining Room on June 29th, ahead of further talks on June 30th.

Concerns about the US military's THAAD missile defence system and China's role in the region are likely to come up in talks between Trump and Moon at the White House.

Earlier in the week, a White House official said that the US President Mr Trump would press President Moon Jae-in to improve the trade imbalance with the US.

President Trump has spoken strongly about the US trade imbalance with the RoK and has threatened to tear up a trade agreement with the country.

Both men have an interest in building a strong relationship, but tensions could puncture that effort./.
