"This year, the Direct Line will include various innovations. The essence of this unique world event with regard to its content and technology will remain the same, but it will be somewhat fine-tuned regarding the geographical and communication scale, using the technological achievements available to us," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Besides, the President will answer questions from Russia’s citizens regarding public and political affairs and the socioeconomic life of the nation, as well as international affairs.

People can ask questions by either calling, sending an SMS or an MMS message, on the Direct Line website or via a special mobile application.

This will be Putin’s first Direct Line during his new six-year presidential term. He has answered the questions of his citizens 11 times as the President and four times as the Prime Minister.

In 2001, President Putin received 400,000 questions, and later their number has been increasing and now stands at several million. The record of the Direct Line was set in 2013, when Mr. Putin answered questions for 4 hours and 48 minutes. Last year, he spent 3 hours 56 minutes.

The event will be broadcast live by Channel One, Rossiya 1, Rossiya 24 and Public Television of Russia TV channels, and Mayak, Vesti FM and Radio Rossii radio stations./
