Book on Vietnamese foods released in Italy

Honourary Consul of Vietnam in Turin and director of the Centre for Vietnam Studies in Turin, Italy, Sandra Scagliotti has launched her Italian-language book on Vietnamese foods.

The 155-page book titled “Vietnam Spinaci D’acqua e Melanzane: Una Civiltà Vegetable Fra Storia e Letteratura” (Vietnam water spinach and eggplant: A vegetable civilization between history and literature) reflects Vietnamese food across history as well as in comparison with other countries’ foods. It helps improve Italian and European research on the Southeast Asian country.
Scagliotti used to teach sociology about developing countries and contemporary Asian history at the University of Turin as an expert on Vietnamese studies. She has also lectured in Vietnam, France and Canada.
She edited the “Duong Kach Menh” (Revolutionary Way) book by President Ho Chi Minh published in Italy in September 2018.
In 2017, she published a special edition on the East Sea titled Yellow Sand Beaches, Vietnam and its Archipelagoes on the East Sea.
She is also the author of various books on history and culture of Vietnam like Dragon & Fairy: Vietnam’s modern and contemporary politics and poetry (2013); Investment in Vietnam: Country, culture and economics in the third Millennium (2014) and Vietnamese language for beginners (2016)./.
