Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee on March 17th held a ceremony to review the city Ao Dai Festival 2019 which kicked off on March 2nd at Nguyen Hue pedestrian street.
The organizing board recognized contribution of artists who acted as ambassadors for the festival.
A variety of activities related to Ao dai such as a performance contest, a parade, an online photo contest and a drawing competition were held during the two-week event. The activities took place at many locations throughout the city, including Nguyen Hue and Bui Vien pedestrian streets, the Youth Cultural House, the Women Cultural House, the War Remnants Museum, the City Post Office and other institutions.
Some 15 artists acted as ambassadors for the festival which attracted 26 designers, and 26 tailors and enterprises related to Ao dai and tourism. 2,675 competitors participated in contests. More than 100,000 visitors came to the festival. 5,000 Ao dai were presented to members of the Vietnamese women association, female workers and children of workers.

Having been held six times, the festival has become the biggest Ao Dai festival in Vietnam, a prominent cultural and tourism event of the city to honor the beauty of traditional costumes, preserve and promote the national cultural identity, thereby contributing to promoting Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh city in particular, as a destination for domestic and foreign tourists./.
