At the meeting, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu affirmed that the two countries have had close cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism, and efforts to bring the cooperative relationship into depth and substance.
To promote cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu hopes that cooperation will not only stop in large cities but will increasingly expand between provinces, cities and localities; helping people of the two countries enjoy and access cultural values. In addition, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu hopes that Vietnam will support Japan in successfully organizing this country's cultural and tourist events in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong respectfully thanked the cooperation and coordination of the Japanese Government in general and Mr. Takebe Tsutomu in particular during the past time, especially cultural exchange and tourism promotion activities between the two countries.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam and the Japan Tourism Promotion Agency, in the first six months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed 335,638 Japanese visitors. Japan welcomed 233,783 Vietnamese visitors. Some Vietnamese destinations that attract Japanese tourists include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, the cluster of Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Nha Trang, Mekong Delta with tourism products to experience culture, world heritage and beach resorts.
In addition, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan has supported many short-term training courses for Vietnamese tourism officials such as an in-depth training course on tourism promotion, agricultural tourism, tourism for everyone, tourism explanations, knowledge creation program for young leaders, and ASEAN - Japan youth exchange.

In near future, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong hopes that Japan will continue to support the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in implementing activities to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism in Japan. Among them, there is a Festival in Sapporo city in the coming years. Both sides are making efforts to hold the festival annually.
In response to Mr. Takebe Tsutomu's proposals, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong completely agreed and proposed that the two sides need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of monuments, museums, and art to promote heritage values, traditional cultural and artistic products; enhance understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Along with that, training human resources in the fields of culture and tourism also needs to be focused on cooperation between the two sides.
The Deputy Minister also proposed that the two sides increase mutual support in cultural and tourism promotion activities in each country; contributing to bringing exchange and cooperation activities into a more substantive, long-term reality; Effectively promote the culture of each country and the unique culture of each locality; contributing to deepening the good relationship between the two peoples./.
