The information was announced by the Ministry of Health.

The 8th patient is a female worker, 29 years old, from the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

She returned to Vietnam from Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak on January 17th on a Southern China Airlines flight (CZ8315), the same flight taken by three other Vietnamese previously tested positive to the deadly virus.

The other cases consist of two Chinese nationals (a man and his son, with one already recovering), a Vietnamese hotel receptionist having contact with the Chinese father and son, and a US citizen transiting Wuhan on his flight to Vietnam.

At least 20 cities and provinces nationwide have decided to temporarily close schools from February 3rd in an effort to stem the spreading of the virus.

The move was made following Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s instruction to give students a temporary break over the concern about the novel virus.

A total of 137 universities and colleges have also announced to extend the Lunar New Year holiday for one or two more weeks.

A book exhibition was opened at the National Library of Vietnam in Hanoi. The display features about 10,000 books published in different periods, aiming to give visitors an overview of the Party’s establishment, and the leadership role of the Party and late President Ho Chi Minh in the fight for national independence, as well as in national development and defence.

It also looks to introduce the country’s achievements in the reform, development and international integration process, and in the Party building at present.

Besides, some publishers also showcase their books at the event such as the National Political Publishing House, the Political Theory Publishing House, and the People’s Public Security Publishing House.

Ho Chi Minh City also organizes a grand meeting, a special art performance, a photo exhibition and film screenings.

In addition, the city has stepped up the communication work to highlight the formation and development of the CPV, the municipal Party Committee, and the development of the city and the country as well.
