Helicopter tour provides ultimate view of Hanoi and Red River Delta

Visitors can have a bird’s-eye view of Hanoi and the Red River Delta on a helicopter tour operated by the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation.

A US-made Bell-505 helicopter lifts off from Gia Lam airfield, 15 minutes from downtown Hanoi, and flies over major attractions including Long Bien bridge, Nhat Tan bridge, Co Loa ancient citadel and Bat Trang pottery village.

With numerous tributaries, the Red River Delta encompasses a major agricultural area mainly devoted to rice, infamous for severe floods and seasonal fluctuations.

The service is available daily, serving tourists from 07h00 to 17h00 for VND3.5 million (USD151) per person.

Hanoi boasts architectural gems like Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage site, the Hanoi Opera House, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, and Nhat Tan bridge./.

No new community COVID-19 infections reported for 36 days

Vietnam confirmed no new COVID-19 cases from May 21st afternoon to May 22nd morning, marking the 36th consecutive day without community transmission.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the total infections in the country stands at 324, including 184 imported cases which were quarantined upon their arrival.

As many as 266 out of 324 patients have recovered as updated on May 22nd morning, accounting for 82 percent of the total.

The 58 remainders are being treated at nine national and provincial medial facilities, with four testing negative once for SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the acute respiratory disease, and four negative at least twice.

A total of 14,744 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from pandemic-hit areas are under health monitoring, of whom 266 were quarantined at hospitals, 7,726 at other concentrated facilities and 6,752 at home.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, has warned of the increased risk of infection in the near future, requiring the entire disease prevention system to not let guard down./.

South Van Phong general port put into operation

South Van Phong general port has just been put into operation to meet the need of maritime shipping services and to push up economic development of Van Phong Economic Zone.

The information was announced by the Management Board of Van Phong Economic Zone.

The port is located at the industrial center of Khanh Hoa province, the key economic zone of the South Central and the Central Highlands regions, especially the large material areas such as Dak Lak province, the South of Gia Lai province and industrial parks in Khanh Hoa province.

It is built with the minimum depth of 15 meters, able to handle vessels of 70,000 DWT. In the future, it is expanded to receive 100,000 DWT vessels.

The port plays an important role in receiving as well as importing and exporting goods from Khanh Hoa province to the Central Highlands and vice versa through the National Highway No.26.

Currently, the Ministry of Transport is preparing for the additional planning of the East-West Expressway, connecting Buon Ma Thuot city and Khanh Hoa province./.
