Five months: Ho Chi Minh city attracts USD1.6 billion in FDI

In the January - May period, Ho Chi Minh city attracted a combined total of USD1.6 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), 57.67% of the figure in comparison with the same period from last year.

Accordingly, Japan topped the list of the 47 countries and territories investing in the southern metropolis, with 44 projects worth USD80.5 million, making a lion’s share of 32.4% in terms of additional capital.

Singapore came second after putting in USD50.8 million in terms of registered capital, following by Hong Kong (China) and the Republic of Korea.

93% of Vietnamese COVID-19 patients make full recovery from virus

Three more COVID-19 patients were announced as recovered on the morning of June 5th, bringing the total recoveries to 305 out of 328 confirmed cases in Vietnam so far.

The three patients were released in June 5th morning from the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases Base 2, including patients 293, 302 and 320. All three young men are overseas Vietnamese returning home from Russia on May 18th and were taken to the quarantine area upon entry.

After their treatment at the hospital, all the patients have provided multiple consecutive negative test results for SARS-CoV-2 and now have no sign of fever or cough and will be followed up for the next 14 days during their home isolation.

The latest discharges bring the rate of recoveries in Vietnam to 93%. There are still 23 patients being treated at health facilities nationwide and most of them are in stable health. Among them, there are several that have tested negative for the coronavirus at least once.

As of this morning, Vietnam had no COVID-19 cases to report, marking 50 days in a row without any new infections in the community. Among the 328 infection cases, there are 188 imported ones.

About 5,000 tonnes of mangoes in Son La province exported to China

The northern province of Son La has exported about 5,000 tonnes of mangoes to China since the beginning of the harvest season with a total value of USD2.24 million.

The province now is focusing on harvesting mangoes for the consumption in both domestic and foreign markets, with consumption peaking at over 1,200 tonnes per day.

The price of mangoes in locality ranges from between VND8,000 and VND11,000 per kilo, while the selling price of the fruit at the border gate stands at between VND12,000 and VND30,000 per kilo./.
