Speaking at the opening ceremony to mark the launch of the new air route, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc affirmed that the event helps to strengthen the relationship between Lam Dong and Seoul and other RoK localities, and create new momentum for the province’s tourism development.
After the first flight, the airlines will operate seven round-trip flights per week on the route to serve travel demand of passengers. Jeju Air is the first Korean airline to operate a direct route to Lam Dong.
In the first 11 months of 2023, Lam Dong welcomed 363,000 international visitors, reaching 145.2% of the plan, of which Korean visitors accounted for 60%.
In recent years, the province has established twinning relations with a number of districts and cities in the RoK to enhance connections, exchanges, and learn from experiences in culture, tourism, trade, and investment attraction.
According to information provided by Lien Khuong airport, the airport recently welcomed between 30 and 35 flights from the RoK every week.
Specifically, low-cost carrier VietJet Air launched air routes from the RoK’s Incheon and Busan to Lien Khuong, while Pacific Airlines also opened routes from Muan to Lien Khuong and vice versa in the form of charter flights. Each flight carries between 150 and 160 Korean tourists to Da Lat.
Bestowed with year-round cool climate, green pine forests, misty landscapes, and resplendent architectural gems dating back to the colonial era, the resort town of Da Lat in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has been a well-known destination both at home and abroad.
Hanoi’s IZs attract 613 million USD investment capital in 2023

In his speech at the event, Head of HIZA Le Quang Long said that in 2023, HIZA regularly coordinated with Departments, branches and the city Center for Investment and Trade Promotion to build plans to boost popularization, and increase activities for promotion and investment attraction. At the same time, the authority timely guided and provided information for investors who seek investment in IZs in the city.
With the above efforts, as of December 2023, industrial zones attracted investment in 10 new projects, including 5 domestic projects with registered capital of 491 billion VND and 5 FDI projects with registered capital of 170 million USD, and 20 expansion projects with increased capital of 137.6 million USD and 6,905 billion VND.
In 2023, IZs are expected to lure 613 million USD, an increase of 71.16% over the same period in 2022.
Long said that administrative procedure reform has been implemented effectively. This year, the authority received and processed 6,462 incoming documents; and promoted the application of electronic documents with specialized digital signatures of the Government in document issuance under the direction of the City People’s Committee, 100% of documents are processed in accordance with regulations.
So far, there are 710 secondary projects operating in IZs, including 302 FDI projects with nearly 6.7 billion of registered capital and 408 domestic projects with more than 26 trillion VND of registered capital.
As many as 27 countries and territories poured capital in IZs in the city, with Japan accounting for about 60% of total investment capital. Many projects attracted large investment capital from multinational companies with advanced and high technology such as Canon, Yamaha, Meiko, Terumo and Hoya.
China announces official import of Vietnamese watermelon
Recently, after being approved by Chinese authorities, watermelon has become Vietnam’s next agricultural product to be officially exported to the market of 1.4 billion people.

On December 15, China’s General Administration of Customs issued a notice on plant quarantine requirements for watermelon imported from Vietnam. Accordingly, Vietnamese fresh watermelon products that meet official quarantine requirements can be exported to the Chinese market.
The announcement said that the export of Vietnamese watermelon products to China is based on regulations on plant quarantine requirements reached between the China’s General Administration of Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.
At the request of Chinese authorities, Vietnamese watermelon products must strictly comply with management and supervision processes before export, including requirements on field management and packaging facility management, testing and quarantine before export.
The fresh watermelon permitted to enter the Chinese market must come from the cultivation and processing establishments registering with the MARD. Meanwhile, the GACC will verify the list of businesses provided by Vietnamese authorities and regularly update the list on its website.
Chinese statistics show that considerable room remains for agricultural cooperation between the two countries, whose trade in farm produce has been growing continuously. In Jan-Dec 2023, China imported 44.62 billion CNY (nearly 6.3 billion USD) worth of Vietnam’s agricultural products, up 20.3% year on year.
Hue listed among world’s best cuisine cities
The world-famous website specializing in cuisine, Taste Atlas, has ranked Hue 28th in the world among cities with delicious dishes, said the Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee.
Established in 2015, Taste Atlas connects with 9,000 local restaurants, introduces readers with more than 10,000 dishes, thousands of reviews and research by culinary experts and chefs. The website aims to become a world map of traditional dishes made from local ingredients.
The list of “Best Food Cities in the World” was announced by Taste Atlas to honor the local cuisine of destinations.
