The seaplane VN-B469 carrying eight tourists on board departed from Tuan Chau port at 8:30 a.m. and landed on Hong Van beach, Co To district, at around 9:05 a.m. safely.
This is the first flight route to Co To island, and the first connecting two islands at sea in Vietnam.
The 35-minute long flight helps significantly reduce travel time compared to a high-speed boat that takes around two hours to travel between the two islands.
Visitors also have the chance to admire the majestic beauty of landmarks from above, such as Ban Sen, Ngoc Vung, Quan Lan, Minh Chau, and Bai Tu Long Bay guided by the flight crew.
The Hai Au Aviation JSC said it is using Cessna Grand Caravan 208B EX seaplanes to operate commercial flights between Tuan Chau and Co To islands. The US built seaplane is designed to fly at a speed of about 300 km / h, and it is capable of taking off and landing both on airports and on water.
The new service will help Quang Ninh diversify forms of tourism services, promote tourism development of Co To district, and contribute to local socio-economic development.
